Do you know about kimono?
Kimono is a traditional Japanese garment. In the past, Japanese people used to wear kimono in their daily lives, but now, for many Japanese people, it is something to be worn during traditional events and ceremonies. You rarely see people wearing kimono in the town.
However, it’s a different story in tourist areas. There are many rental kimono shops, and both Japanese and foreign tourists enjoy the kimono experience.
What are the attractions of kimono for foreigners? Let me list three:

In Japan, famous tourist destinations like Kyoto, Asakusa (Tokyo), Kawagoe (Saitama), Nara, Kanazawa, Osaka, Kamakura (Kanagawa), and Hakone (Kanagawa) have many rental kimono shops, and tourists are enjoying the kimono experience.
When you visit a rental kimono shop, you don’t need to bring anything. Every shop has set plans (starting at around 5000 yen, I think) that include everything you need. Wearing a kimono is difficult and requires skill, but don’t worry. The staff will dress you. They will also style your hair to match the kimono.
And if you come to Tokyo, Asakusa is highly recommended. The famous sightseeing spot “Sensouji Temple” in Asakusa is surrounded by old Japanese buildings, allowing you to enjoy a traditional Japanese atmosphere. It’s the perfect place for a walk in a kimono.
The best season for you to visit is spring when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. The timing of the cherry blossoms varies slightly each year, so it might be difficult to perfectly match, but generally, it’s from the end of March to the beginning of April. If you can come to Asakusa when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, you’re in luck. Taking photos in kimono with the beautiful cherry blossoms in the background will create unforgettable memories.

そして、もしも東京に来るのなら、浅草がおすすめです。浅草にある有名な観光名所「浅草寺」の周辺には、古い日本の建物が残っていて、日本らしい雰囲気が味わえます。着物を着て散歩をするのにぴったりの場所です。
特に、あなたに来てほしい季節は春の、桜が咲く頃です。桜の花が咲くタイミングは、毎年少しずつ違うので、ぴったり合わせるのは難しいと思いますが……、だいたい３月終わりから４月の初めごろです。もしも桜が満開になる時期に浅草に来られる人はラッキーです。満開の美しい桜の花を背景に、着物を着た写真を撮ることができたら、最高の思い出となるでしょう。
